Opening a business
Opening a business
If you are opening a business in Florence, or if you're planning to organize an event or any other activity you most certainly want your initiative to be visible in the streets and the main squares and buildings throughout the city. To do so you'll have to follow the regulations regarding signs and advertising that are determined by the city of Florence. Prices and regulations can vary according to specific wishes and preferences.
Several specific ways of advertising are the following:
- Billboards
The city administrates a selection of billboards to which you can apply for use. The maximum duration to use this system is 10 days for the smaller format and 15 days for the larger one. - Signs to indicate a business
Certain kinds of businesses (like a bed and breakfast) require a sign (targa) on the building to indicate its presence. Other kinds (like stores and restaurants) are allowed to put a sign (insegna) above the door. All of these are strictly regulated in terms of size and style, especially within the historical center in order to maintain a sense of visual continuity. - Signs in store windows, outdoor decorations
If you have a store and you would like to put signs in the window for special occasions such as the seasonal sales, or if you wish to apply exterior decorations for example during the holiday season, you are required to put in a request for a temporary sign with the office of Insegne Provvisorie, which is part of the general sign office listed below.
